Gear up on Grandparents Day, Sunday September 12, 2021 for
the Fifth Annual Solidarity Cycle!

As we have shown over the past four years, neither rain nor pandemic nor wildfire smoke can keep us off our bikes. Once again, with the generous backing of their sponsors, our enthusiastic participants (insert your name here . . .) will mount up and cycle 50 or 100 km on a fully supported ride.
The ride traditionally takes place in the spectacular Fraser Valley, with a variety of route options. Because of COVID protocols, we are keeping it simple this year and will be offering the following routes:
The “Easy 50” from Aldergrove to Yarrow. For those who prefer a shorter, more level ride on quiet roads.
The “Yarrow 100 loop” starting and finishing in Yarrow. For cyclists who choose to ride 100 km, enjoying the pastoral setting while skirting the hills.
In 2020 poor air quality from raging wildfires forced a change. Instead of the formal event, our intrepid cyclists fulfilled their commitments individually, riding in places and times of their choosing. Despite our disappointments, we pedalled on.
This year, as last, we will be adhering to provincial health protocols, and if necessary, we will hold the ride as a virtual event.
How’s your conditioning? Once again, Sherry and Don Baker and Rick Janssen will be offering training rides to help our registered riders prepare to reach their best. Rides will be held on Saturdays at 9 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, starting Saturday, May 29th . For more information visit the Solidarity Cycle website: solidaritycycle.weebly.com.
To date Solidarity Cycle has raised considerable awareness, and more than $150,000 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothers Campaign. Our collaboration with community-based organizations in fifteen African nations means that millions of grandmothers do not have to navigate the challenges of two catastrophic pandemics – HIV-AIDS and COVID 19 – on their own. We cannot and will not let them down.
Registration for Solidarity Cycle 2021 opens on June 1.
